About Me

Work experience &

training expertise

I'm Shannon Eberly - I've been a Personal Trainer since 2016, and have been an athlete since I could walk. Most importantly, I'm just a normal human who happens to like exercising and helping people learn how to like it too. I'm not a crazy fitness junkie who lives and breaths the gym. For that reason, exercise has never been an event or daunting task; it is just a part of who I am and my day-to-day lifestyle. My goal as a trainer is to show you how to do this. Sometimes when we think too big, we procrastinate or put things off for the future out of fear of failing, or just seeing how much work it's going to be.  Being an active person doesn't have to difficult. One thing you can count on when training with me is that there will always be laughter, community, acceptance, and a healthier happier mind and body.

Fun facts: I am a cat mom, turned human mom this April! I've run over 10 marathons/half marthons/10k's.

My playlists are a mix of old school hiphop and jazz music. One minute I'm listening to Snoop and the next Etta James is singing in my ear.

My professional fitness journey began as a front-desk associate at a boxing gym. I quickly became obsessed with the culture, hustle and the positive impact it had on people's lives, so I went for my NASM CPT certification in 2016. Although my professional fitness career started five years ago, I have been inside a gym most of my life, starting as a competitive gymnast at the age of 8 years old. Following this, I have participated in over 3 full marathons, 5 half marathons, 2 10K's and a whole bunch of charity races. Additionally, working at a boxing gym for six years allowed me to work with some of New York's best amateur and professional fighters, keeping my jabs fierce and my reflexes sharp.  I also take punches through pad work training.

After getting certified in 2016, I have worked at names like Orangetheory Fitness, Life Time, and Manhattan Plaza Health Club. However, my main gig has been personally training clients one-on-one both virtually, in homes, and at various studios around NYC.  I also have a Masters in Exercise Physiology, allowing me to specialize in prenatal/postpartum fitness, marathon/race training, and senior fitness. Under the umbrella of these specializations, injury prevention & recovery is very prevalent here. With that said, I have experience rehabilitating several injuries such as herniated discs, meniscus tears, knee surgery/ACL recovery, broken femur recovery, abdominal strains (including diastasis recti), rotator cuff recovery and more.

"I came to Shannon for help while learning how to be active with a new medical condition. She was intelligent and well-versed about it and was able to talk me through what we needed to do to achieve my goals. After an assessment of my current fitness level, she was able to specifcally talor my training sessions so that I could continue being active while not hurting myself. Her guidance and help has been beyond valuable."
